Craft story
The journey of a Rajasthani artisan since 1947
He was a boy when India became free in 1947. In the small lanes of Rajasthan, he watched the tricolour rise and a new hope awaken. His father placed a needle in his hand and said, “Beta, azaadi mili hai, ab kala ko zinda rakhna.”
From that day, his hands began a lifelong journey — cutting tiny mirrors, placing each one with care, stitching stories that would outlive time.

1947
India is free. A young boy in Rajasthan begins learning the traditional craft from his father.
1950s
He starts creating small pieces with broken glass and mirrors, carrying forward the family tradition.
1960s
India moves ahead with new roads, electricity and radio, but his hands stay true to the craft.
1970s
His work finds its way into local markets and fairs. Recognition grows slowly, one piece at a time.
1980s
Machines arrive, imitations increase, but he chooses quality over quantity.
1990s
His craft reaches new cities. Artisans like him become the face of Rajasthan's heritage.
2000s
The world discovers handmade. His creations travel across countries, yet remain rooted in Rajasthan.
Today
In his old age, he still works every day, teaching the next generation to keep the art alive.
